Diversity & Inclusion Statement
The purpose of this statement is so you can be aware of my values and practices to help you make an informed decision on whether my services are a good fit for you. This statement includes information about myself, my commitment to anti-oppression work and inclusion, and the practices I'm applying within my business to help create equity and inclusion.
I recognize that I have come into this space with the unearned privileges of a white, cis-gendered, heterosexual, able-bodied, middle-class, small-sized woman. I am committed to being actively anti-racist, inclusive, and re-examining the work I offer over time.
Anti-racism and inclusivity are core values in my work. I recognize all forms of diversity, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, age, religion, ability, sexual orientation, class, gender, and size. As a business owner and fitness professional, I appreciate and welcome the different perspectives that diversity brings to my work. I take a holistic approach to fitness and nutrition, and I understand that oppression affects the health and well-being of individuals. Therefore, I cannot do my work without helping to liberate marginalized people and create equality.
As part of my ongoing work, I read, listen to, and attend webinars from Black educators, Indigenous educators, other People of Color, and people within the LGBTQIA+ community. I am committed to continuing to learn and practice anti-racism, diversity, and inclusion. I am open to new perspectives and continuing to make changes to my work and approach as I continue learning over time.
I am committed to dedicating a minimum of half of my yearly education budget to BIPOC educators, with a minimum of half of that going to anti-oppression and liberation education.
I am committed to donating 1% of my quarterly profits to various organizations serving BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities.
